Recently, two age groups have attracted particular attention whenever the country’s coronavirus infection figures have been published: young people. Because 10-19-year-olds and 20-29-year-olds are overrepresented in the infection statistics. But why are more young people testing positive for COVID-19? Is it because young people are less likely to follow rules or think more about themselves? No, says behavioral scientist Pelle Guldborg-Hansen:

โ€œThe biggest mistake we can make is to say there’s something wrong with the mentality and point fingers. โ€

According to Pelle, the infection rates are largely due to the fact that everyday life is set up differently when you’re 20 years old than when you’re 40, such as housing conditions, transportation options, and the physical conditions at educational institutions with changing rooms and many people in a small space.
